Removals to Scotland Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the actions taken by Removals to Scotland to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our relationships, and to implementing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery does not take place in any part of our organisation or those who work with us.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Removals to Scotland has a clear zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and all forms of exploitation. We will not knowingly enter into or maintain relationships with any organisation or individual involved in such practices. This commitment applies to all employees, agency workers, contractors, suppliers and other business partners associated with our removals and storage services.
We expect everyone who works for and with us to share our stance and to uphold the highest standards of human rights, labour practices and business ethics. Any breach of this policy is treated as a serious matter and may result in termination of employment or commercial relationships, as well as reporting to relevant authorities where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Removals to Scotland provides domestic and commercial removals, packing, and related services throughout Scotland and beyond. Our supply chains include the sourcing of vehicles, fuel, packaging materials, warehousing, facilities management, temporary labour and professional services. We recognise that some of these areas may be at higher risk of labour exploitation, particularly where subcontracted labour or international sourcing is involved.
We aim to work with reputable suppliers who share our values and who are transparent about their own supply chains. Our supplier relationships are built on trust, accountability and continuous improvement in ethical standards.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are progressively embedding modern slavery and human rights requirements into our supplier selection, onboarding and review processes. Suppliers are expected to demonstrate that they provide safe working conditions, respect workers' rights, and comply with all applicable labour and employment laws.
Where appropriate, we conduct risk-based supplier audits to verify compliance with our standards. These audits may include reviewing policies and procedures, checking right-to-work documentation, assessing recruitment practices, and interviewing workers where feasible. If concerns are identified, we seek corrective action within clear timeframes, and we reserve the right to suspend or end relationships with suppliers that fail to address issues adequately.
Training, Awareness and Internal Controls
We are developing and improving training and awareness for key employees, including managers involved in procurement, recruitment and operations. Training covers the nature of modern slavery, indicators of risk in removals and logistics, and the actions to take if concerns arise.
Internal processes, such as recruitment checks and contractor onboarding, include steps designed to reduce the risk of exploitation, including verification of identity and work eligibility. We promote fair pay, safe working conditions and respect for all workers engaged in delivering our services.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Removals to Scotland encourages anyone with concerns about modern slavery or unethical behaviour connected with our business to speak up. Employees are urged to report issues to their line manager, senior management, or through our internal whistleblowing channels. We also expect suppliers and partners to raise concerns promptly if they become aware of any potential exploitation within our operations or shared supply chains.
All reports are taken seriously, handled sensitively and, where possible, confidentially. We will not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith. We investigate credible allegations and take appropriate remedial action, including reporting to relevant authorities where required.
Monitoring, Accountability and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility that requires continuous vigilance and improvement. Senior management is responsible for overseeing the effectiveness of our approach, ensuring that identified risks are addressed and that corrective actions are implemented.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed each year to reflect changes in our business, emerging risks and best practice guidance. As part of the annual review, we evaluate our policies, supplier management, training initiatives and reporting mechanisms to enhance our ability to prevent and detect modern slavery.
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Removals to Scotland and represents our commitment to upholding human rights and dignity across all aspects of our operations and supply chains.
